Timber Trail Shuttle & Bike Hire caters for both large and small groups, as well as individuals. You will be transported from our Ongarue base to the start of your Timber Trail Adventure in either one of our 9-seater vans or our 22-seater bus.
Departure Time Options & Shuttle Costs
Shuttle Service Option 1:
End to Start (Ongarue to Pureora)
Drop-off: (Start) Pureora at 09:30 am
$80.00 per person
Includes luggage transfer
Park your vehicle at our secure base and travel via shuttle to the starting point of the cycle trail in Pureora. By arrangement pickups can also be made from Bennett Road, Ongarue Village, Waimiha, and Maniaiti/ Benneydale.
NB: Shuttles can be booked as part of a package or separately. A package is the best way to book everything if you plan to stay at the lodge.
Shuttle Service Option 2:
Midway to Start (Piropiro to Pureora)
Drop-off: (Start) Pureora 09:30 am
$80.00 per person
Includes luggage transfer
Staying at the Timber Trail Lodge or Piropiro DOC camp? Spend the night before your cycle tour and have us pick you up in the morning for your shuttle to the start. This is a great option for those camping, motor homing or staying at the Timber Trail Lodge.
NB: Shuttles can be booked as part of a package or separately. A package is the best way to book everything if you plan to stay at the lodge.
Shuttle Service Option 3:
End to Midway (Ongarue to Piropiro)
Drop-off: (Midway) Timber Trail Lodge & Piropiro DOC camp site 8:30 am and 6:30 pm respectively.
$80.00 per person
Includes luggage transfer
Leave your vehicle at our secure base and hop on our shuttle and travel to the middle of the trail in Piropiro. The 7.30 am shuttle is suitable for anyone cycling the southern end of the Timber Trail. The 5.30 pm shuttle is suitable for anyone staying in Piropiro for the night.

Bag Transfer (max 7kg) included in shuttle: Additional luggage $15 per bag
Door-To-Door Shuttle Service Within Ongarue
As an additional service, we offer a door-to-door pickup and drop-off service in Ongarue from / to the following locations:
- Timber Trail Centre, 52 Ongarue Village Road, Ongarue Bennett Road Car Park, Ngakonui-Ongarue Road, Ongarue
- Black Fern Cottage, 50 Ongarue Village Road, Ongarue
- Timber Trail Farmstay, Ongarue
- Timber Trail Lodge, Pureora Forest Park
- Piropiro Campsite, Piropiro Road, Pureora Forest Park
- Black Fern Lodge, 1731 Ongarue Stream Road, Waimiha
- Twin River, Waimiha Valley Road, Waimiha
- Maniaiti/ Benneydale
NB: If your pickup location is anything other than our Base, please specify your pickup location when you book.
Vehicle Transfer Options:
Pureora (Start) To Ongarue (End)
Piropiro (Midway) To Ongarue (End)
$275.00 per vehicle
Want to start your ride early? This is a great option for people travelling from Auckland, Hamilton, Rotorua and Taupo areas. Drive your vehicle to the start of the trail in Pureora and we will transfer your vehicle to Ongarue and drop your luggage off at the lodge. Vehicles are stored in a secure carpark in Ongarue whilst you enjoy your two-day cycle. We will deliver your luggage back to Ongarue on your second day.
Only riding the second half of the trail? Meet our driver in Piropiro and we can transfer your vehicle to Ongarue.
Vehicle transfers is designed for up to 5 people per vehicle; any additional people will be $15 pp. Please note that we are not able to relocate rental vehicles.
